Day 1

I haven't worn a watch in 3 years, but I put one on today. I'm officially a runner.

Today's plan: 34 minutes
5 min. shuffle
1 min. shuffle, 2 min walk x 8
5 min. walk

It turned out to be a little more than 2 miles. So, it wasn't bad since that's what I've been doing for the past month. I have to say, though, I don't much like shuffling. I feel like I'm not doing anything. I mean, I feel like I should be going faster. I do, however, like being able to breathe. Normally I'm out of breathe while jogging and I start concentrating on when I'm breathing in and out. I didn't even have to think about it today. That was nice.

*Everytime I think about breathing...you know, the kind they tell you to do while running, in through the nose and out through the mouth....I think of Heather Rutkowski. She told me once that she couldn't run because too much concentration on breathing was hard for someone with asthma. Weird that I think about that.

I was at 1 mile (apt mile) at 13 minutes. That sounds okay for a beginner. Right? Breathing was good. Legs were getting a little tired and my right knee started to feel swollen, but not hurting. I think a pat on my back is in order.
